Voynich is a general purpose file encryption program. It will
work equally well on both text and binary files of any length.
In addition to superior encryption, Voynich also incorporates
data compression for maximum storage and transfer efficiency.
Voynich is simple to use. Select the file to process from the
directory listing, choose encryption or decryption as needed from
the following menu, and enter the encryption key.
Voynich comes packed with the following files:
VOYNICH.DOC ==> notes on the program
VNHFILE.DST ==> program file in distribution form
VOYINST.EXE ==> Voynich initialization program
README!.NOW ==> this file
SETUP.BAT ==> a batch file that will create VOYNICH.EXE
VOYNICH.CPP ==> the program's source code
To create a working copy of Voynich, simply run the setup batch
file. SETUP.BAT will copy the file VNHFILE.DST to the file
VOYNICH.EXE and then run VOYINST.EXE to initialize the program.
The file VNHFILE.DST is simply an uninitialized copy of
VOYNICH.EXE which you can either rename or copy to the program
file VOYNICH.EXE. The initialization program VOYINST.EXE will
only work if it finds the file VOYNICH.EXE.
The file VOYNICH.EXE can only be initialized once. You can create
more than one unique copy of Voynich by running the setup program
multiple times. Each time you create a unique copy of the program
you should rename it both to prevent SETUP.BAT from overwriting
it and also to keep track of that different version.
WARNING! Files encrypted by your unique version of Voynich can
only be decrypted by your unique version of Voynich. The only
access to your encrypted data will be through the copy of Voynich
that you create. If your copy of Voynich is lost or damaged, any
data at that time encrypted by that copy of Voynich will be lost
as well. Once you have created a unique copy of Voynich you
should make a security backup copy of that file and lock it away
in a safe place ── like the bank.
